Case Studies
SKM Egg Products Export India Ltd., Erode, Tamil Nadu.
Problem:
A 100% export-oriented unit is facing significant social nuisance due to the accumulation of 100 tons of waste from their in-house layer birds. Additionally, the steep rise in coal prices has severely impacted their overall economic viability.
Solution:
When Urja Biosystems entered the picture, they assessed all the issues and devised a customized solution for SKM Poultry. Urja built a robust platform where they received daily waste management solutions using the anaerobic digestion method (Biogas plant). This initiative helped them manage waste effectively and provided an independent power source through a biogas-based plant, generating 250 kW per day for captive use. Additionally, Urja provided a solution for organic fertilizer production, yielding 10 to 15 tons per day from the daily waste, suitable for agricultural purposes. This initiative replaced 8 tons of coal per day, previously used in processing units. Following the installation, SKM Poultry received a huge subsidy under the MNRE scheme.
